"We’re Not Going to Be Those People..." (Except We Absolutely Are!) If you’re knee-deep in wedding planning and finding yourself saying things like, "We're keeping it chilled-out," or "We're not doing anything over the top," or, the classic, "We’re not going to be those people..." (except we absolutely are!) this post is for you. Because let’s be honest - famous last words, right?
Whether you're planning an intimate do or a big bash, chances are you’ve already turned into "those" people... and I say that with love. Because being those people usually means you care. About your day. About each other. About the small details that make it feel like you.
And if you happen to be dog people too? Welcome. You are absolutely in the right place.
So let’s break down some of the most relatable, hilarious, and actually kind of adorable things couples say they won’t do - and then totally do:

"We’re not going to be those people who give the dog a role in the wedding."
Except now they’re the ring bearer. Or walking you down the aisle. Or being wheeled in on a flower-covered cart. Because how could you not include your fur baby?

"We’re not fussed about the aesthetics."
(Famous last words of engaged couples everywhere)
...Until you find yourself creating a palette that matches your Spaniel’s collar and hunting for the perfect sage green linen napkins.

"We're not doing a choreographed first dance."
Cut to: rehearsals in the kitchen while your dog spins between your feet. Bonus points if they're wearing a bowtie.

"We don’t want loads of photos."
But also: please capture golden hour, the dog mid-ear-flap, the flower girl eating cake, and one of us sob-laughing during the speeches.

"We want it to be laid-back, not a big production."
But also there's a band, a saxophonist, custom cocktails, and you're now on a first-name basis with your florist.

Here’s the truth: weddings are allowed to be joyful contradictions. You can be low-key and still love a bit of magic. You can be relaxed and still want a day that looks like a Pinterest board exploded (in a good way).

And you can definitely be the couple who said, “No dogs in tuxedos,” but now have professional photos of your Spaniel looking smug in a velvet bowtie. I will 100% take that shot for you, by the way.
